Carol Stream dog owners love their pets. it's a great city for families, and a great place to walk dogs and interact with other dog owners.

We love our pets. Yet we also need them to adapt to our family life – a life that is unnatural for our dogs. Dogs WANT to behave the way our pack hopes they behave, but sometimes they just do not know or understand how.

If your canine companion has struggled to learn the behaviors that are accepted in the household, or you are not confident in your dog training skills, give us a call today, and let a Carol Stream dog trainer help make sure that your pet fits into your family as you imagined.

Why Consider Carol Stream Dog Training?

Dog training can be difficult if you do not know where to start. Dogs do not respond well to force or punishment, and they do not understand our words or tone. There are some techniques that work well in theory, like treat training, but these techniques do not necessarily work when taking that progres out into the real world.

Marc Goldberg developed a method of dog training that has changed the way trainers throughout the United States address pet behaviors, using no force, no treat bribes, and no clicker. Known as the ForceFree method, Marc - and his partner Patrick Farrell - have both changed how people train their pets. You can learn from Marc and Patrick directly, and have a dog that is well trained for your household and the outdoors.

Our Pack Leader Programs

Our dog training starts with our Pack Leader programs, which involve private training at our Little Dog Farm with Marc and Patrick. With our Pack Leader Programs (for both adult dogs and puppies), you and your dog will learn how to train out of behaviors that include, but are not limited to:

  • Tugging on Leashes
  • Chewing on Shoes or Carpet
  • Stealing Food or Garbage
  • Jumping on People or Furniture
  • Ignoring Your Calls
  • Struggling with Housebreaking Accidents

We help work with you to train your dog on the behaviors that matter most, and then teach you how to take what you've learned home with you so that you can continue training during your spare time. The strategies build the bond between you and your dog, and can be used on most problematic household behaviors.

Why Consider Canine Boarding School?

Dog training is about teaching the owner even more than teaching the dog. That is because the best way to support the connection between you and your canine is when you are the one in control.

But there are many situations where you may need additional help, and you’d like us to lay the foundation from which you and your pet will continue to thrive. In those situations, consider our Carol Stream dog boarding school programs. These programs, each of varying lengths, are designed to address mild to severe dog behavioral challenges, from climbing on furniture to dog aggression.

Our one week program is for those that want us to get started training your dog on common behaviors that it needs to fit into the household. Our two week program perfects those behaviors, so that you can take a dog home that is well trained and ready to fit into your home. Finally, our three week program is for dogs that need extra help due to severe behavioral issues like anxiety, aggression, and depression.

Our Philosophy & Goals

Our philosophy is simple. Improve the life of both dog and family. All too often, unruly dogs do not fully enjoy life because their families constantly become upset and frustrated with them. This is difficult for both family and dog.

Our mission is simple. Make both dog and family happy.

What does is take to make your dog happy? He will thrive when you give him leadership and attention.

Making the family happy is a bit more complex.

Families typically want their dog to:

  • Come when called, every time, on or off leash
  • Walk nicely on a loose leash without pulling
  • Sit until released
  • Down until released

Families also want their dogs:

  • Not to jump on people
  • Not to charge through doors
  • Not to dig in the garden
  • Not to bark and chew  inappropriately
  • Not to climb on furniture you prefer they avoid
  • Not to sniff and eat off the table and counters.
  • Not to be wild and uncontrollable
  • Not to ignore you when you want their attention
