Barrington is known as a park-friendly outdoor community, and there is no better way to enjoy that time in nature than with your beloved dog.

Yet taking your dog outside can be difficult if your dog has not been trained. They may pull on the leash. They may jump on people. They may growl at other dogs. These behaviors may also not be limited to the outdoors, as many dogs also struggle with housebreaking, food aggression, stealing trash, and other behavioral issues.

Working with a Dog Trainer in Barrington, IL

Every dog wants to be a “good boy” (or girl) in its heart. Dog training is simply about teaching it how. Marc Goldberg and his team of the best Barrington dog trainers use an approach to training that requires no force and does not rely on clickers or treats.

It is a methodology that has changed the way that dog trainers around the country have begun to approach training, as it is one of the only strategies that lets your dog be a dog. Created by Marc Goldberg (the owner and lead trainer of Chicago Dog Trainer), this method is easy to learn and preferred by both dogs and their families.

Our Barrington Dog Training Programs

Marc offers several programs for those that are ready to change their dog’s behaviors. Several of our services are focused on dogs and their owners together, including:

  • Pack Leader Program
  • Puppy Pack Leader Program
  • Travel ‘N Train Program

These types of private sessions are a great way to provide training on some of the more important behavioral issues, such as not jumping on guests, walking on the leash, and more. You take your dog to meet with us for a session where we work together to both train your dog and teach you the techniques you need to continue their training at home. This type of dog training is very effective for supporting individual behavioral change, and also helps you learn the ForceFree method techniques that you can use to continue to train your dog in other ways.

About Our Boarding School Dog Training Programs

We are confident that you can perform amazing dog training techniques at home, with training at our Little Dog Farm. But we also know that sometimes it helps to have an expert lead the way. Send your dog away for training and have your dog come back as a well behaved family member.

Our boarding school programs address this, allowing you to drop your pet off with us for an extended stay (1, 2, or 3 weeks) and then come on the last day to see your pet’s progress and learn how to take the program home with you. We provide a sort of doggy bootcamp that we use to train your pet away from your Barrington home and make sure that they are prepared to be picked up with you. Our one week program begins training and then lets you continue at home. Our 2 week program fully trains your dog so that requires much less on your end. And our three week program is great for dogs with anxiety, depression, and aggression.

We can address the household behaviors, or handle issues like aggression that may affect your relationship with your dog. With the ability to work with all dog breeds, we’re here to make sure you have a Barrington, IL dog trainer that is right for you.

Our Philosophy & Goals

Our philosophy is simple. Improve the life of both dog and family. All too often, unruly dogs do not fully enjoy life because their families constantly become upset and frustrated with them. This is difficult for both family and dog.

Our mission is simple. Make both dog and family happy.

What does is take to make your dog happy? He will thrive when you give him leadership and attention.

Making the family happy is a bit more complex.

Families typically want their dog to:

  • Come when called, every time, on or off leash
  • Walk nicely on a loose leash without pulling
  • Sit until released
  • Down until released

Families also want their dogs:

  • Not to jump on people
  • Not to charge through doors
  • Not to dig in the garden
  • Not to bark and chew  inappropriately
  • Not to climb on furniture you prefer they avoid
  • Not to sniff and eat off the table and counters.
  • Not to be wild and uncontrollable
  • Not to ignore you when you want their attention
