We all love our dogs. But we also need them to adapt to our family. We know that dogs are animals, yet there are stil some behaviors that are necessary for a dog to fit in with our Elmhurst home. That means teaching them the necessary behaviors to help them integrate into home life.

Sometimes, that means partnering with an Elmhurst dog trainer. Here at Chicago Dog Trainer, Marc Goldberg and his team have – literally – written the book on kind and caring dog training. We let your dog be a dog, but we also show you and your dog how to be a model household member. If you're interested in learning more about our dog training services, please contact us today to get started.

About Our Dog Training in Elmhurst, IL

Marc and his partner Patrick Farrell use what is known as the "ForceFree Method," a unique approach to dog training that allows your pet to still be an animal, while also teaching them the techniques and behaviors that welcome them better into the family environment. This approach works for any type of dog behavior, including:

  • Leash Training
  • Chewing
  • Housebreaking
  • Crate Training
  • Aggression Training, and More

Best of all, our Elmhurst dog training services are free of forceful language or behaviors and require little to no treats. Using the natural connection that dogs and humans have with each other, this approach trains your pet to be on their best behavior – and trains the owner in how to teach them in a way that is gentle and effective.

Our Dog Training Services in Elmhurst, IL

So much of dog training is about the people, not the dog. It is in your dog’s DNA to adapt to the behaviors of the pack. But it is up to the pack leaders – you – to establish those behaviors and correctly show your dog the proper way to act.

We have several services designed to do just that.

Pack Leader Programs

Our pack leader programs are similar to other forms of in-person dog training. You'll take your dog to come visit us at our Little Dog Farm. We'll train your dog with you and show you how to take the techniques home with you for further training. Often we'll be able to train your dog in a dog behavior you're interested in, in as little as one visit.

For this type of basic dog behavior training in Elmhurst, we have options that include:

  • Pack Leader Program – With the pack leader program, you’ll learn how to teach several appropriate household behaviors, from walking on a leash to caring for your things.
  • Puppy Pack Leader – You and your family can learn how to groom some of the best behaviors from your new puppy so that they immediately become the perfect family members. Great for puppies ages 8 to 16 weeks.

Both of these programs are a great choice for those that want traditional dog training from one of the country's most well known dog trainers.

Boarding School Programs

We also have several boarding school programs. These programs are for when your dog needs a little bit of extra training to adapt to some of the more common canine issues, such as aggression, anxiety, and more. At the end of the boarding sessions, you and your family come for your own training to learn how to take your pet’s progress home with you.

Our boarding school programs act like a doggy bootcamp. You leave your dog with us for a pre-determined period of time, and we lay the groundwork for your dog's long term behaviors. These programs lengths include:

  • 7 Days - Our 7 day programs get your dog started on basic household behaviors so that you can get some early training for your pet for all common household behaviors before taking it home and continuing the progress.
  • 14 Days - Our 14 day boarding school bootcamp program helps give you a "perfect pet" that is already ready to be the ideal member of your home. We give them an in-depth training before training you on the last day.
  • 21 Days - Some pets struggle with anxiety and aggression. These tougher programs are better for our 21 day bootcamp program. We'll help reduce your dog's anxiety or aggression towards both people and pets, as well as teach them the ideal techniques for household living.

Best of all, our Elmhurst dog trainer services require no force and do not rely on treats. You’re learning your own techniques and behaviors that you can use for free to teach your dog what they need to thrive.

Our Philosophy & Goals

Our philosophy is simple. Improve the life of both dog and family. All too often, unruly dogs do not fully enjoy life because their families constantly become upset and frustrated with them. This is difficult for both family and dog.

Our mission is simple. Make both dog and family happy.

What does is take to make your dog happy? He will thrive when you give him leadership and attention.

Making the family happy is a bit more complex.

Families typically want their dog to:

  • Come when called, every time, on or off leash
  • Walk nicely on a loose leash without pulling
  • Sit until released
  • Down until released

Families also want their dogs:

  • Not to jump on people
  • Not to charge through doors
  • Not to dig in the garden
  • Not to bark and chew  inappropriately
  • Not to climb on furniture you prefer they avoid
  • Not to sniff and eat off the table and counters.
  • Not to be wild and uncontrollable
  • Not to ignore you when you want their attention
